Aaron Swartz was killed by… Aaron Swartz

leave a comment »

Aaron Swartz’ father says that Swartz was killed by the government:

Swartz was “killed by the government,” his father, Robert Swartz, said at the service at Central Avenue Synagogue in Highland Park, Ill., according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He was killed by the government, and MIT betrayed all of its basic principles,” he said.

Aaron’s death is a tragedy, but the fact remains that he chose to end his own life.

Many people in this world face difficult situations without killing themselves.

Federal prosecutors and MIT officials may be guilty of many things, but not the death of Aaron Swartz.

Remember Aaron, honor him, and use his death to bring about a greater good. But don’t blame anyone but Aaron for what he chose to do.

Al Gore Sells Current TV to Islamic News Network

leave a comment »

Yahoo News reports that former Democratic VP Al Gore has sold his struggling Current TV channel to Islamic news network Al-Jazeera:

The former vice president confirmed the sale Wednesday, saying in a statement that Al-Jazeera shared Current TV’s mission “to give voice to those who are not typically heard; to speak truth to power; to provide independent and diverse points of view; and to tell the stories that no one else is telling.”

But Time Warner Cable refuses to be a party to The Two Als’ effort to spread anti-American propaganda:

The deal suffered an immediate casualty as Time Warner Cable Inc., the nation’s second-largest cable TV operator, announced it would drop Current TV due to the deal… “Our agreement with Current has been terminated and we will no longer be carrying the service. We are removing the service as quickly as possible,” the company said in a statement.

And “anti-American propaganda” is certainly the right term for it:

Dave Marash, a former “Nightline” reporter who worked for Al-Jazeera in Washington, said he left the network in 2008 in part because he sensed an anti-American bias there.

As a capitalist, I support Mr. Gore’s right to add to his $100 million net worth.

As an American, I’m ashamed of him for doing it this way.
